Now that Dr Oz taught us all how to tell our Ayurvedic Diet Body Types (are you a Kapha, Pitta or Vata?), he wanted to share more about why knowing your body type is useful. One of the ideas of Ayurvedic Medicine is that different body types have different nutritional and health needs. Dr Kulreet Chaudhary is a neurologist who stressed the importance of tailoring your diet to accommodate your body type.

Dr Oz shared the Ayurvedic Diet meal plans customized for each of the three main body types. Which one is right for you?


This is the largest of the body types, so the focus is mainly on easily digestible and light food options.

What Not To Eat

  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Cheese

Attempt to slowly phase these problem foods out of the picture. Adjust as you go.

What To Eat

  • Load up on spices, including Honey and Turmeric.
  • Go nuts for whole grains and vegetables.
  • Focus on high fiber sources, such as bran or Lentils.

Dr Oz: Kapha Meal Plan

Incorporate Turmeric with your favorite steamed vegetables at least three times throughout your week. Your body type is naturally large, and you don’t want to stress about trying to completely transform your body’s natural shape.


Ayurvedic Diet: Pitta Body Type

This body type has a medium build and is often muscular.

What Not To Eat

  • Spicy Food
  • Acidic Foods (including Vinegar)
  • Alcohol
  • Coffee

What To Eat

  • Choose naturally cooling foods
  • Enjoy juicy and sweet fruits, like coconuts.
  • Eat white rice.

Dr Oz: Pitta Meal Plan

Try loading up on foods like Kale, Cucumbers, Coconut and Cumin. Add some Jicama or Mango to your fresh salads.

Ayurvedic Diet: Vata Body Type

This is the body type for those with small frames who are often cold.

What Not To Eat

  • Dry Cereal
  • Raw Vegetables
  • Cold Foods (like Ice Cream)
  • Carbonated drinks

What To Eat

  • Oily Foods
  • Well Done Foods
  • Ghee (a clarified butter)
  • Cooked Cereal (like oatmeal)
  • Steamed Vegetables
  • Walnuts

Dr Oz: Vata Meal Plan

Add Yellow Lentils and Rice to your routine. Rely on spices like Cumin and Turmeric to boost your digestive functions.

    today was very interesting,I’m always looking for natural ways to heal my body. But the weight lose thing is so out of control. Theres probally millions of us who desire to loose the weight but with the finacial situation we can only wish.
