Dr. Oz: Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the skin, and it’s an ingredient that you should be adding to your daily beauty routine, ASAP! Dr. Oz was joined by dermatologist Dr. Joely Kaufman for a discussion on this natural plumping agent that can reduce the look of wrinkles and firm skin, naturally.
Hyaluronic acid can absorb up to 1,000 times its weight in water; Dr. Oz and Dr. Kaufman demonstrated this effect using a sponge that represented our skin. This excellent plumping agent can be injected at the dermatologist office, but you can also find it right in your drug store.
Dr. Oz: Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer
For around as little as eight dollars, you can buy a moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid. When applied topically, it will moisten and plump the skin, but it must be applied daily. Look for hyaluronic acid listed within the first four ingredients, and apply at nighttime for best results.
Dr. Oz: Teeth Whitening Product Review
Next, Dr. Oz tackled the issue of yellowing teeth, another factor which can contribute to the aging process. Dentist Dr. Jonathan Levine explained that as we age, teeth become more and more stained, so it’s important to use whitening products for a younger looking smile.
But with so many whitening options out there, how do we know which one to choose? Dr. Oz brought on a few guests, all who wanted whitening results between two months and two days. Luckily, there were options to suit all of their whitening needs.
For Ruth, who had two months to whiten, Dr. Levine suggested whitening pens. For around $7-33, this is a great way to apply whitening gel directly onto the tooth. Maureen had two weeks to gain whiter teeth, so Dr. Levine advised whitening strips. These cost between $13-16, and should be left on for 25-30 minutes. After they’re removed, stay away from staining foods and beverages like coffee and red wine.
Next was Luetta, who had a family reunion in just two days. For whitening in a hurry, Dr. Levine suggested light and heat whitening, which involves trays and costs about $15-44. Whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes are also worth the investment. They contain great anti-plaque agents that keep teeth and gums healthy, but also remove stains.
Dr. Oz: Toothpaste Nail Whitening Scrub
Ladies, don’t we all want to have clean, white, polished-looking nails? Toothpaste can also be used for another unexpected whitening purpose. To strengthen, whiten, and polish your fingernails, apply toothpaste to your toothbrush and buff it into your nails. Dr. Oz swears by this for great-looking fingers!
