Dr Oz Exhaustion Test – Yeast Overgrowth Causes Exhaustion
Dr. Elizabeth Boham shared a self-test that can reveal why you have been feeling so tired all the time, which is the first step in figuring out how to get your energy back.
This is how to perform the test. Fill a glass full of water and then spit into the water. Your saliva should sit on top of the water, but if it floats to the bottom or spider’s down into the water, it could be a sign of yeast overgrowth.
Dr. Boham suggested doing this first thing in the morning and allow the spit 15 minutes to either float or sink.
Overgrowth of Yeast Causes Fatigue
Dr. Elizabeth Boham explained our bodies contain yeast but if you have too much yeast the body will start fighting off what it believes to be an infection. This constant struggle to get rid of the “infection” leaves you feeling exhausted.
Besides causing fatigue, too much yeast can lead to inflammation in the body and some people are even allergic to yeast which can cause even more of a problem for them.
Poor Diet and Overuse of Antibiotics Causes Yeast Overgrowth
The main reason for yeast overgrowth in the body, according to Dr. Boham, is the overuse of antibiotics. By taking too many antibiotics we are killing off the good bacteria in the body, which in turn allows the yeast to overgrow.
The second biggest cause of yeast overgrowth in the body is a poor diet. Dr. Oz explained that a diet high in carbs, sugar, soda and alcohol will cause yeast overgrowth.
Symptoms of Yeast Overgrowth
Dr. Oz said everyone needs to know what to look for to understand whether or not your fatigue is due to yeast overgrowth. Regardless of how busy your life becomes, Dr. Oz said you should never feel tired all the time.
Dr. Elizabeth Boham shared some common symptoms to to look for if you think your fatigue is due to yeast overgrowth. If you have experienced two or more these symptoms in the past few months, your fatigue is most likely related to yeast overgrowth.
- Recurrent yeast infections
- Athlete’s foot
- Irritable bowel
- Itchy ears, skin, anus
While the yeast overgrowth is not life threatening, Dr. Boham said it is very common and often times goes undiagnosed. She added that even when doctors do get the diagnoses right they don’t know how to treat it because you need to use food as medicine and not drugs.
