Doctor Oz: 24 Hour Energy Boost
There just aren’t enough hours in the day. We’ve all thought it or said it at some point. With everything we want and need to get accomplished, it’s no wonder so many of us are fatigued by the time we hit the pillow at night.
But Dr Oz shared his solutions today, outlining a 24 Hour Energy Boost Plan designed to help us reset our internal systems and recharge our batteries so we can put an end to chronic fatigue once and for all. Here’s how he plans to help us accomplish this.
Dr Oz Fatigue Fighters: Bioelevation Explosion
Did you know that the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning sets the tone for your day? I never thought it would have that kind of impact, but it made sense when Dr Oz explained it.
In the audience, a woman named Ursette revealed that she goes to bed late, which means she doesn’t get enough sleep, and she wakes up exhausted in the morning. Dr Oz shared research studies that found people who are active in the morning are more productive than others.
To help get your day off to a great start, Doctor Oz suggested Bioelevation Explosion. Dr Oz explained that you should get right out of bed, and then squat so that your heart is about level with your knees. Next comes the Explosion part: jump up into the air. This will send blood rushing back to your heart and get your circulation fired up to start the day.
Dr Oz made his entire audience give it a try, and you can even practice at home so you’re ready to give it a shot tomorrow morning.
Dr Oz: Cold Mitten Friction
Another morning technique to give your energy levels a boost is called Cold Mitten Friction. Dr Oz explained that to do this, you should put mittens on and dip the tips of them in ice water. Then use them to rub and massage your arms, from the wrist up, using a circular pattern.
This tip is designed to “milk” your lymph nodes, and you can try it for about two minutes every morning. Combining this with the Bioelevation Explosion trick should have you jumping on that to do list right away.
Dr Oz: Spelt Salad Recipe
If you start to slow down around midday, it could have to do with your lunch habits. If you’re not getting enough to eat, you could be depleting your energy. (But don’t overdo it; overeating is also an energy suck.)
Dr Oz shared studies that said not eating enough at lunch can actually cause you to gain weight, because you’re more likely to overeat at your evening meal. He recommended adding Spelt, an old high protein grain with a nutty flavor, to your lunch salad. (You could also mix it with lentils.) This is full of Fiber and B Vitamins.
Dr Oz: Rosemary Energy Spray
A lot of us reach for the coffee pot to get our mornings in gear (I’m guilty for sure). But too much caffeine can actually have the opposite effect, making us more tired. That’s because it’s hidden in everything from ice cream to pain relievers, and even decaf.
As with any drug, overconsumption means the body acclimates to the effects, so it eventually stops working as well as we’d like. For an afternoon pick me up, Dr Oz suggested creating a Rosemary Energy Spritz instead of making a fresh pot of coffee.
Add a sprig of Rosemary to a spray bottle full of water. Let it sit overnight. Then use it the next day to Spritz your face. The smell will become more noticeable as the spritz dries. It will signal to your brain to give you more energy.
Dr Oz: Rooibos Tea for Insomnia
Wendy is the mother of two teen boys, and she works as a preschool teacher. (I am exhausted by the very idea of her life.) She said she lies awake at night thinking about the many stresses in her life. According to Dr Oz, 40% of the population struggles with insomnia. (I had this issue just last night.)
Dr Oz said that lack of sleep is a vicious cycle that keeps us fatigued and stressed. To combat this, he suggested a hot cup of Rooibos Tea. It’s full of antioxidants and can reduce sumptoms like tension, headaches, and irritability.
Dr Oz: Heated Rice Footsie
Another insomnia fighter involves a sock and some rice. Put rice in your sock, then microwave it until it’s warm, but not too hot. Then slip your foot into the sock and let the heat soothe your body, making you relaxed, tired, and ready to fall asleep.
According to Dr Oz, these techniques should help you boost your energy in just 24 hours. Let me know in the comments if any of them work for you.
