Dr Oz: Healing Powers of Honey
Dr Oz loves bees and honey so much that he even has his own bees! He shared the health benefits of Raw Honey for healing wounds and more.
Cameras went to Dr Oz’s house, where he and his son Oliver talked about the many benefits of Honey. For example, honey is:
- Blood Sugar Regulator
- Cholesterol Reducer
- Cough Suppressant
- Wound Healer
Dr Oz: Harvesting Honey
Harvesting honey in its purest form is the best way to get all its nutrients. Smoking out bees causes them to eat honey and fly away, making it easier for honey to be harvested. Dr Oz said that female bees do all the work.
But they leave some honey behind to keep the bees going strong in the winter. Honey extraction looks more complicated than most of us are probably going to try at home, but we can still enjoy honey cures at home.
Dr Oz: Raw Honey Vs Pasteurized Honey
Dr Oz said to buy Raw Honey, which has active nutrients. Most honey is pasteurized to prolong its shelf life, but Oz said you should skip that and go for the raw goods. But babies under age one should not have any type of honey.
Dr Oz: Honey Heals Wounds
Honey is able to protect good cells while killing off bad cells. It can also prevent scabs by healing wounds faster. Honey also releases natural peroxide as it mixes with moisture from a wound. You can use Raw Honey as a new antibiotic ointment.
Dr Oz: Hot Ozzy Recipe for Colds
The Hot Toddy is a great drink when you are under the weather. It contains Bourbon, Lemon, Hot Water, and Honey. But the reason it has worked for so many years comes down to the Honey. Dr Oz shared his Hot Ozzy version:
- 1 tbsp Honey
- Hot Water (not boiling)
- Lemon Wedge
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- Vodka (optional)
Dr Oz: Raw Honey Cough Suppressant
Did you know that Raw Honey is a natural cough suppressant that works better than the leading brand. It coats the throat to make it less sensitive, and it confuses the brain by hitting the tongue’s sweet spot. That’s a cool idea!
