Dr Oz: Warning Signs of a Heart Attack in Women
Nearly 435,000 Americans will suffer from heart attacks this year, with 267,000 of those people dying. Those are some staggering numbers and Dr. Oz said his biggest priority is to lower those numbers by helping people to recognize the differences when women experience heart attacks. And what better person to talk about the issue of heart attacks in women other than Rosie O’Donnell.
Like so many women, Rosie did not know what to look for with heart attack symptoms. She missed all of the key, subtle signs of a heart attack, which include exhaustion, nausea and muscle pain. Since many of the signs could be everyday occurrences, from muscle aches from the kids or exhaustion from a long day at work, Dr. Oz wanted to be certain no other woman would make that same mistake. He worked with Rosie O’Donnell to create a Warning Sign One Sheet that could fit in a purse. It was downloaded by millions of women all over the world in 113 countries.
Dr Oz & Rosie O’Donnell Save Katrina’s Life
By inviting Rosie O’Donnell on his show to talk about her heart attack, Dr. Oz did what he was trying to do – he saved the lives of many women by talking with Rosie O’Donnell about her own heart attack.
One woman’s life he literally saved was Katrina. The morning after the show, Katrina was not feeling so hot. She remembered what Rosie had described from her own heart attack and knew something was seriously wrong. Her husband called 911 and when she arrived at the hospital, the doctors told her she had a heart attack.
If it were not for Dr. Oz and Rosie O’Donnell, Karina may not be alive.
Dr Oz: Heart Attack Warning Signs Differ in Women
Men and women have very different signs for a heart attack. Dr. Oz came up with a list of warning signs everyone needs to know:
- Chest, Jaw, Neck & Shoulder Pain – Pain that does not feel typical, but rather like you are being a squeezed a little bit.
- Nausea or Indigestion
- Unusual Fatigue
- Dizziness and/or Light-Headedness
- Shortness of Breath
Remember to download Dr. Oz’s Warning Sign One Sheet from above and it wouldn’t hurt to write the symptoms directly above here, on the sheet as well.
Dr Oz: Arsenic in Chicken and Apple Juice
Two issues of great concern to Dr. Oz were the amount of arsenic in chickens, as well as the level of arsenic in our apple juice. Since the show, the FDA has made regulations against arsenic being in the food fed to chickens and the levels in arsenic have dropped dramatically.
