Deepak Chopra is a fascinating man whose life’s work has taken him all over the world in search of ways to heal the body and relieve stress. He is a medical doctor, renowned author, and has spent considerable time studying the world of alternative medicine.

Because there are multiple factors affecting belly fat, and there are lots of different approaches that can work for people, Dr. Oz invited Deepak Chopra to be a guest on his show about belly fat.

Dr Oz and Deepak Chopra discussed how five minutes of daily meditation can change your life.

If stress is a cause of your stomach fat, you might be able to get some relief from that with Deepak Chopra’s tips for 5-minute meditation.

According to Deepak Chopra, meditation quiets the mind and body, pushing out all the things that are weighing on your mind. Meditation actually lowers your Cortisol stress hormone levels and can boost your immune system.

Dr. Oz explained to Deepak and his audience that, although he has been meditating for about half his life, in the last five years he has really started to take the practice seriously. It has helped him change his life and focus on his goal to “Do less and accomplish more.”

You may have heard that you should not think during your meditation time, but according to the show that is a misconception. And for those of us who don’t think we have time to meditate, the practice can actually turn back the clock and add years of health to your life (though I’m not sure how subjective a measure that is).

With help from members of the audience who have never tried it before, Deepak Chopra and Dr. Oz had several women practice meditation so everyone can learn how it works.

Here are the tips Deepak Chopra shared if you decide to give meditation a try. It’s cheaper than supplements, and the only things you have to lose are time and belly fat.

  1. Sit comfortably, with the spine as straight as possible. Close your eyes.
  2. Repeat a mantra such as “Shivo Hum” out loud or silently, in your head.
  3. Think about something or someone you love in your life.
  4. Reflect on what it is you want.
  5. Relax the body and open your eyes at the conclusion of your meditation.

According to Deepak Chopra, starting this for just five minutes a day could radically change your life for the better. Will you give it a try?
