Dr Oz: Protect Yourself From Allergy Symptoms
Dr Oz shared that winter is finally melting away, which means allergy season is back and 30 million noses are about to start going crazy. He wanted to share how you can avoid suffering and breathe easy. He welcomed a woman who suffers from severe allergies, although she doesn’t know what causes them.
Dr Oz said the big problem is actually pollen. He explained that when our immune system is attacked, it causes inflammation, which makes your body want to “get rid of the invader.” The problem is that the pollen is confused as a “bad guy,” causing the immune cells to become inflamed, even though it didn’t need to happen. That reaction is what results in seasonal allergies, making so many people feel miserable.
Dr Oz: Protect Hair & Eyes From Pollen
Dr Oz said you don’t want to knock out your immune system, but there are simple things you can do to “arm yourself” during allergy season so that you have much less of a problem. He started by saying that when you leave the house, you should protect your hair because the pollen can land in your hair, creating a problem later. He suggested you wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your hair.
To protect your eyes, wear sunglasses to keep the pollen out of your eyes. Make sure they’re big and stylish to get the protection you need while still looking great!
Dr Oz: Fight Allergy Symptoms With Nasacort
Dr Oz then moved on to explain that when you first start to feel nasal allergies, you want to “arm your nose” from the inside out. He suggested Nasacort, which is a multi-symptom nasal spray. He explained that when your body is irritated by pollen, it gets into the nose and the invader, and releases anti-inflammatory chemicals. Chemicals are blowing up inside your nose and a lot of people think that antihistamines are the answer to the problem.
If you use Nasacort, you’re getting a lot more of the chemicals, including the histamine. The spray also works for 24 hours, making it easier for people to deal with their symptoms. It’s available over the counter and is scent- and alcohol-free.
