Angelina Jolie Director Role
Angelina Jolie, as director and writer of the upcoming movie “In the Land of Blood and Honey” disclosed a little bit of her writing process to Anderson. The outline was written first, she said, followed by multiple sessions with the actors and others who had lived through the experience.
The film, based on the 1990s conflict in Bosnia, needed a personal touch from those closest to the war, and Angelina was blessed with an amazing cast.
She called the entire process “wonderful” and showed nothing but gratitude towards the cast members who were on set. One actress, Zana Marjanovic, professed that the entire movie-making experience was bigger than the task itself – it was such a responsibility. At the end of the day, she believed you have to simply do the best job you possibly can with such a serious subject matter. The entire cast conveyed this sentiment throughout the hour-long show.
Angelina Jolie Directing Brad Pitt?
In one of the day’s few light notes, Angelina was asked if she would ever consider directing her husband, movie star Brad Pitt, in a movie. Everyone let out a laugh and her first response was edited out of the segment, following her strict orders.
After a brief tape delay the viewers at home were given the edited version, where Angelina later admitted that she would consider directing him in a bigger role. Apparently, the bossier person in the relationship depends on the subject matter. I’m still wondering what had to be edited out of the program…
The conversation turned back to the film and Angelina told Anderson that being an actress herself helped the process of knowing what her cast went through during the shoot. She’s been around the block, so to speak, and knows how past directors irritated her on a day-to-day basis during a shoot. To a tee, her cast members nodded their heads in agreement and seemed to really have appreciated Angelina’s behind the scenes skills.
Her cast seemed to agree. Actress Vanesa Glodjo took one last chance to heap rave reviews on their director, saying that Angelina was kind and modest – unlike most Hollywood stars with body guards, etc. During their first encounter, Vanesa almost asked if she was, indeed, the real Angelina Jolie!
When asked what made her proudest in life, Angelina replied: “my family.” A classy interview from one of today’s most recognized Hollywood stars.
